(Saturday Feb 9, 2008) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Islamabad invited prominent journalist Hamid Mir to the weekly open discussion forum to give his assessment about the current political situation of Pakistan. Hamid Mir discussed in detailed the international power struggle going on in Pakistan. Hamid Mir also spoke in detail about the role of media, and how media has been victimized by current regime, despite the tall claims that are made by current regime about media’s independence. He told the audience that biggest number of journalists have been killed under the current government. He answered various questions by the audience about media and over all situation of the country. While answering the question that how Musharraf can be toppled, he said that more the numbers on road, more will be the pressure on government to go home.
His message to PTI was that based on his interaction with public, PTI has much support among the masses. The only thing PTI needs to do is to focus on organization and within six months you’ll start seeing positive results. At the end Ahsan Rasheed thanked Hamid Mir for taking out time to speak to PTI’s workers.
